Fix our streets

People are fed up with blocked drains, potholes, faded white line markings and broken bollards. Our streets are in a state of total neglect. A toxic combination of Conservative Government cuts and Labour's local mismanagement of the Council has caused this. We are campaigning to sort our streets out! Please sign our petition

Fix our streets

People are fed up with blocked drains, potholes, faded white line markings and broken bollards. Our streets are in a state of total disrepair. This petition calls on the Government to increase funding to local authorities. It also calls on Calderdale Council to review of the practices of its Highways Department. This review should consider whether capital borrowing for a major resurfacing would be more cost effective than constantly patching. It should also examine the methods used by contractors to patch potholes, and consider a capital investment into jet patching technology for fixing potholes. The authority should also consider expanding its fleet of gully cleansing lorries and crews to clear the backlog of blocked drains.
