The Labour administration on Calderdale Council has announced nearly £2m worth of cuts. The details of these can be read in this cabinet paper.
These cuts include:
- Moving to three weekly refuse collections.
- Moving to two weekly recycling collections.
- Removing Land Rover Collections for Rural Properties.
- Closing Household Waste Recycling Centres or reducing their opening hours.
That means if you miss a collection it could be another 2-3 weeks before your waste is collected!
Households across Calderdale will suffer from a build-up of waste. Then there will fewer household waste centres to even take that waste too.
In the Summer food waste will be left out for two weeks attracting flies, rats and vermin.
This will cause an explosion in the amount of fly-tipping across the Borough - fly-tipping the Council has to pay to clean up.
Please sign our petition to retain the existing collection service and to keep all our household waste centres open.
Politicians said we would build back better after the COVID-19 pandemic. Let's hold the Government and Council to account on this!
