Calderdale Council is facing a fly-tipping epidemic. We are concerned about the amount of fly-tipping that is taking place across the borough and have been pressing the Council to take action to tackle this.
Part of this action should be making the Council’s own tips easy to use. These recent changes seem to us to do just the opposite. People are now charged £2.50 a bag of rubble and £3 a bag of plasterboard. This punishes residents who are doing the responsible thing and taking waste from their DIY projects to the tip.
The Council is also introducing a new residents permit scheme on a trial basis, and we are worried that this will also make it harder for people to dispose of their waste responsibly.
The charges, though, seem to be planned as a permanent fixture, so we would urge people to sign our petition as soon as possible to make their feelings known.
