Stop Calderdale's lockdown parking hikes

708 of 1,000 signatures

Hospitality and Retail businesses in Calderdale have suffered devastating effects from the lockdown required to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

As we start to come out of lockdown we will need to do everything we can to support these businesses.

However, our Labour Council is using this period during lockdown to sneak through extra parking charges for Calderdale.

These changes will

(a) Extend existing charging hours in Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and West Vale to 8p.m.

(b) Introduce Sunday charges in Halifax town centre;

(c) Introduce Bank Holiday charges in Halifax town centre and Hebden Bridge;

Please sign our petition to stop the lockdown parking hikes.

We oppose the introduction of evening, Sunday and Bank Holiday parking charges for the following reasons

  • They will impact on the struggling restaurant and hospitality businesses.
  • They are unfair and only impact certain towns within the Borough.
  • They will further damage the high streets in our Towns.
  • They are being sneaked through during lockdown when people are unable to effectively campaign against them.
