Save our Stroke Unit

As reported in the Yorkshire Post, the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) has said that officials “need to reduce the number of hyper-acute stroke units across West Yorkshire and Harrogate”. This is in an attempt to plug a £1Bn funding shortfall by 2020/21. That paper stated the two units “not currently achieving the required minimum activity levels are Harrogate and District NHS FT and Calderdale & Huddersfield NHSFT”.

Calderdale Liberal Democrats have therefore launched a campaign to save our local Stroke Unit. We are petitioning the Government to provide an immediate £4Bn cash injection into our NHS, and to work on providing a long term funding solution for Health and Social Care Services.

We the undersigned call on the Government to provide the money the local NHS needs to provide health services such as our Stroke Unit. We also call on local NHS health bosses not to close the Stroke Unit in Calderdale.
