INCLUDE_DATA

Calderdale Liberal Democrats organise all campaigning activity on behalf of the Liberal Democrat party within the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale. We have branches throughout the borough organising local campaigns and the borough party concentrates on Calderdale council issues.

National Elections–Local Candidates

In the Calder Valley constituency, our prospective candidate is Hilary Myers, campaign information can be found at the Calder Valley Lib Dems website.

In the Halifax constituency, our prospective candidate is Elisabeth Wilson, and information on her campaign can be found at the Halifax Lib Dems website.

Calderdale Council–badly run & wasting money

The Liberal Democrats form the Opposition group on Calderdale Council, the Conservative Cabinet is propped up every year by the votes of the Labour group.

Policies to help you and save money

Calderdale Council should be:

  • Efficient and Effective
  • Caring and Fair
  • Green and Clean
  • Local and Listening

We have detailed policies to cut council waste, improve services and reduce Council Tax increases; helping you and saving you money.

Volunteer funded and run

We are a democratic party, our policies and candidates are voted on by our members. Within Calderdale, the Liberal Democrats employ one part time member of staff, all campaigning, leaflet delivering and similar is carried out by local, unpaid volunteers.

Unlike the two parties controlling the council, we do not receive funding and donations from trades unions, big business or overseas donors, all our campaigning is funded by local people who care about the state of the area and the country.

We always need volunteers to help deliver leaflets, decide on policy, update the website and similar. We also organise regular social events for our supporters. If you would like to get more involved, the easiest way is to join the party online, otherwise please contact us and a local volunteer will be in touch.
